Cheryl Beck

Cheryl is the Director of Heathrow Christian Academy at Markham Woods Presbyterian Church. She earned her B.S.B.A in Accounting from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

“I have worked in the early childcare field since October 2002. I have earned the Formal Education Staff Credential and Advanced Director's Credential with VPK Endorsement. Each year we complete in-service hours which helps me to stay current in the early childhood field.

I enjoy working with young children and feeling their excitement for life. Being a part of a team that sets the foundation for learning at this young age is rewarding. 

I also enjoy setting the foundation for Christian education by helping young children understand the concepts of the Fruits of the Spirit. Young children need to learn about love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. If a young child can begin to understand these attributes, they will be prepared for the next stage of learning.

I love working with not only the families of HCA, but also with the congregation of MWPC. I have the best job! Each morning at school I greet students and their families. The students walk in with bright smiles and are eager to give high fives. These smiles are contagious and brightens my day. 

I began working with MWPC after recovering from Breast Cancer. I received so much love and support from preschool families, church members and friends that I wanted to give back.

People often ask, “How do you know God is real?” I reply, “I had the opportunity to see God in action as I went through the whole process of dealing with Breast Cancer.” This is why I stay; I was given so much love through God’s love that I want to continue sharing His love to others!”

Cheryl has been married to David Beck for more than 36 years and has two grown daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. She enjoys sewing, crocheting, woodworking, gardening and many other crafts.
